Facilities

Raha International School is situated on 14 acres of beautifully landscaped property located approximately 35 minutes from the city centre in a residential area near the Abu Dhabi Golf course. The campus is unique in that buildings are constructed according to traditional Arabic architecture with wind towers and finishes in colours reflective of the nearby desert and sea. It features several large piazzas and wide walk areas lined with palm trees with an abundance of open space and play areas where children can actively interact with their peers and teachers.

There are eight buildings in all designed to support the three programs offered at the school. The elementary section features a separate Early Years area with a very large and shaded play area. The classrooms are spacious and bright with sliding walls that can be adjusted to allow for activities involving collaboration between classes. Each room is equipped with computers, a computer projector and, in most cases, an interactive white board.

The library is located in a central area and contains an excellent selection of appropriate books and access to computers for research. There is a special dining hall in a building right across from the elementary classrooms that offers a range of healthy hot foods, salads, drinks and fruit for our students. Adjacent to the dining hall is a gymnasium specifically for the use of elementary pupils.

In line with our belief in a balanced curriculum the school has a separate structure dedicated to the arts with three music studios and numerous practice rooms along with three visual arts studios. The senior library is located on the entire third floor of this building along with a second senior ICT lab to assist student research.

The senior school contains, in addition to classrooms, buildings specifically designed to support the different areas of the curriculum. The Science wing features well equipped and spacious labs for Chemistry, Physics and Biology along with a Design Tech studio with machines and tools to provide for the practical aspects of this programme.

Our children also benefit from the wide range of sporting facilities available for their use. There are two well equipped gymnasiums, four tennis courts, a beginner’s pool and a 25 meter pool used for competitions by the school’s swim squad. There is a regulation football pitch under lighting with a smaller pitch for younger children. The senior gymnasium contains a dance studio for use by PE classes and after school dance classes. The school optimizes the use of these facilities by offering a wide range of after school programs and through international competition with other schools (International Schools Athletic Conference).
